For Kevin & Merodee Hassler and People’s Church in Kipling, SK, Thanksgiving weekend was welcomed with much anticipation. A full church gathered for Kevin & Merodee’s Ordination and the passing of the church’s leadership baton from their outgoing pastors, Andrew & Monica Switzer to their new Lead Co-Pastors.
ACOP President Wes & Lois Mills made a surprise visit for the event, as did Elsie Welch. On behalf of the Prairie Regional Director Dan MacNaughton, who was unable to attend, Llewellyn Janzen officiated the Ordination Service and issued the Ordination Charge. Merv Switzer prayed the closing Prayer of Dedication. Elsie Welch gave a Prophetic Exhortation. The highlight of the Ordination, though, may well have been the number of children—the next generation of ministry leaders being raised up at People’s Church—who gathered around their new Lead Pastors, Kevin & Merodee, with Prophetic words of greater things God has for both the church and community of Kipling.
The tangible presence of the Holy Spirit could be felt throughout the entire service. The calling of God on Kevin & Merodee was evident. The support and openness of the congregation to their new Lead Pastors was definite. The sense of destiny being among the congregation and its leaders was being ignited. We look forward to many stories of transformation coming out of People’s Church and the community they are influencing with the message of the Gospel.
