In this day and age of tight money policies and high-pressure salesmanship, we are constantly reminded to make sure that our investments are going to pay off in good dividends.
As Christians, we are cautioned in the Scripture to be diligent in business and provide things honest in the sight of all men. We should often challenge ourselves by checking through our investments to make sure that our spiritual investments are going to bring us the greatest dividends in the future.
The men of the business world demand youth to train for future positions of importance. Very seldom do they call older men to take extra courses that will cause them to be more efficient in their line of business.
We must take their example and become more “youth conscious” so that our largest investments in our church are to be centered around our young people, our teenagers, and boys and girls.
Our Sunday School and youth activities should show the pulse of our church’s future, for remember that 85% of the church members of tomorrow will come out of the Sunday School of today.
Jesus took the little child and set him in the midst of them. It was the little lad that supplied the bread and fishes to Jesus, and David, as a young lad, killed the giant Goliath.
Your greatest investment will be realized through your interest and support of the Sunday School and youth departments of your own local church.
In the future, your investments will pay great dividends as these boys and girls and young people take up the torch after we have passed from the scene.
Good investors do not expect to make a million overnight, for that would be gambling, but investments very often take years to bring forth their real worth. May we always keep in mind that what is on the surface is superficial, but the gold has to be dug up.
