A Grace & Hope Story #

Prison Christian Ministries exists to bring the love, hope, and healing of Christ to those in need, focusing on incarcerated individuals, their families, and vulnerable communities both locally and globally.
In Kenya, when a mother goes to prison, the children are often left behind without anybody to take care of them. These innocent children affected by parental incarceration are considered a bad omen and suffer rejection from the extended family as well as the community. As a result, most of the children from incarcerated parents end up on the streets.[1] These children are recruited into crime and/or drug abuse. Sooner rather than later, they join their parents in prison, and the intergenerational cycle of crime keeps going.
This is PCM’s entry point. They focus on reaching the children of incarcerated parents with the love of Christ through The Tabitha Children’s Rescue Centers. They currently care for 100+ children across four Tabitha Houses in Kenya.
These homes provide safe shelter, food, clothing, medical care, and a Christ-centered education to children who would otherwise face abandonment, poverty, or exploitation. The Tabitha Christian Home serves not only as a place of refuge for the children but also as an empowerment center for them and their mothers after they are released from prison.
God gave PCM’s Founder and President, Rev. Brent Bishop, a bold vision to build 10 Tabitha Houses in Kenya. This God-focused mission has been made possible through the faith, prayers, and generosity of partners, supporters, and people like you.
Our vision is to build 2 additional Tabitha Houses in Kenya, increasing our capacity to care for more children. By the end of 2025, our goal is to have 6 operational Tabitha houses, working toward the long-term vision of 10 Tabitha Houses.

My name is Moses. I was born and raised by a single parent in a very humble background. My mother moved from Narok to Nakuru in search of greener pastures, but life didn’t turn out how she hoped. The struggles overwhelmed her, and eventually, she fell into alcoholism. That path led her into crime, and she ended up serving a five-year prison sentence.
Left alone, my brother and I had no shelter, no food, and no one to support us. We dropped out of school and ended up living on the streets. At a very young age, we were exposed to drugs and the harsh realities of street life. Although I never liked that life, I had no one to help me out.
Through our grandfather (an older, disabled man living in deep poverty), we were connected to an organization called Tabitha House. They took me in and enrolled me in Grade 3 at Tabitha Academic School. I shed tears when I saw myself in a school uniform.
I knew then that God had given me a second chance.
Oh, what a wonderful place to be—a place where I eat full meals every day and sleep comfortably every night. Thanks to Prison Christian Ministries, I’m back in school—with food, shelter, and hope for the future.
In Kenya, when a mother can’t afford to feed her children, there is no social program to help. Because of this, many women are forced to do things that are considered illegal to get money for food, to try to feed their families. They end up in prison…
When the mom goes to prison, her babies go with her, but there are limited funds to feed the babies even there. We are now delivering 360 cases of milk to 38 women’s prisons across Kenya. Providing a case of milk per child every month to hundreds of babies incarcerated with their mothers in Kenyan prisons.
