Lloyd was a traveling evangelist when he met Madalene in Port Coquitlam, BC. She was teaching the adult Sunday School class in the church there, which Lloyd attended.  He was very impressed with her teaching and was sure that she would make an excellent missionary wife!

Madalene knew from the young age of 8, that God wanted her to be a missionary in Africa.  Lloyd knew he was called to Africa, receiving that call during his time attending Eston College (FGBI). They got married, pastored, and church-planted ACOP churches across Canada. They also traveled, preaching across Canada before finally being able to leave for Africa.

Lloyd and Madalene traveled to Malawi in 1955. Eventually moving to Zambia, and then Zimbabwe where they helped to establish ACOP churches and train leaders.

Today, hundreds of ACOP churches have been established in South-Central Africa through the efforts of the ACOP missionary team and the national leaders that Lloyd & Madalene were part of. They concluded their many years of ministry in South Africa.

In each country that Lloyd & Madalene lived, their desire and goal was to make disciples through mentoring, teaching, and preaching— everywhere they went! They established short-term Bible Schools that taught and trained young national pastors to reach the lost and to establish churches around the world. These once young pastors have in turn also mentored, taught, and trained others.

Lloyd & Madalene never believed in retiring from the work of the Lord and so when it came time to move back permanently to Canada, they came up with other ways to continue the work God had called them to do.

For a number of years, they pastored ACOP churches in Canada and continued itinerant ministry around the globe.

One focus they had was to start weekly online ‘Word In Season’ Bible Studies.  These have continued for many years right up to the present day. These studies reach believers and leaders in Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Sudan, Nigeria, Egypt, Somalia, Ethiopia, Hawaii, Vietnam, Philippines, England, Europe, Mexico, Guatemala, and elsewhere!

Lloyd & Madalene are constantly amazed at how God continually works in so many ways to reach the lost that they meet every day. They are so thankful that God has never said it is time to quit…

Instead, it is time to work; for life is short! Lloyd & Madalene state that they believe more than ever what God’s word teaches about old age:  “They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing” (Psalm 92:14).

—The story of Lloyd & Madalene Schuetz was lovingly provided by their family.
